React Native bridge, Visa real-time and more updates
Summer’s finally here! And while summer’s all about the sun, at Fidel, it’s also about getting stuff done. Here are some of the things we’ve been working on over the past month that we thought you’d want to know about…
💻 React Native for a silky smooth experience
Attention developer community! We’ve released a React Native bridge so you can use native mobile SDKs in React Native apps. If you’re using the web SDK in a web view, it’s an excellent time to make the switch. Not only does it improve cross-platform card-linking applications, but it also makes integrations faster and easier. Plus, you'll get to use native mobile capabilities such as card scanning, all creating a smoother experience for your users.
Check out Fidel docs to learn more.
Visa real-time lands in Europe
We’ve added Visa real-time capabilities to our suite. Now you can process transactions in Europe in real-time with all three card programmes (Visa, Mastercard and Amex), and notify customers about rewards earned right after each purchase. You can read more about how real-time visibility makes for a better customer experience on our blog.
We’ll be reaching out directly to all of our partners about rolling out real-time capabilities in the coming months. In the meantime, shoot us an email at support@fidel.uk if you want to get in touch.
Ohh Canada… our newest territory
In honour of Canada Day this week, it felt like a good time to launch in the land of the maple leaf. We’re now live in Canada with Visa and MasterCard and can’t wait to start building with the legendary Developer community there. Drop alan@fidel.uk a line to find out more about how we can support you in Canada. Now that’s something worth shouting about!
👑 Treating shopping centre loyalty like royalty
You may think that once you’ve seen one shopping centre, you’ve seen them mall. But intu and Goloyal are re-inventing shopping centre loyalty. intu, who owns and runs some of the most popular shopping centres in the UK and Spain, created a shopping centre-wide loyalty app that rewards customers every time they shop at participating retailers in the shopping centre. Read the full story here.
Over in the Nordics, Sweden’s Goloyal set out to build a new breed of loyalty programmes for shopping centres of their own. Read about how Goloyal overcame discount fatigue and drove repeat foot-traffic by creating a loyalty programme that goes beyond discounts here.
💻 Update your API with version headers
Looking to upgrade? Keeping your API up to date means you can keep delivering the best possible service to your users. To migrate to the newest version of the Fidel API, just use a custom HTTP header specifying the API version you want to request. You can also stay on an earlier version while testing development environments, so you can upgrade whenever you're ready.
The fidel-version
header allows you to define the version of the endpoint output in each request. For more info, check the API changelog and then head over to the Fidel Dashboard to upgrade to the newest version.
🍕Unscripted — our new developer Q&A series
You’ve seen the product, now meet the people behind it. We sat down with Gonçalo, Fidel’s Senior Software Developer, to talk serverless plugins, managing massive payments data volumes and growing our global team. See what he had to say here and keep your eyes peeled for the next instalment.
📺 Stay tuned… faster merchant onboarding is coming
We heard your feedback. We’re making the merchant onboarding process faster so that you can add merchants to your platform quicker, speed up your time to market and will make life a little bit easier for everyone. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months!
